Family Promise is an organization which helps families with children who are facing homelessness achieve and sustain independence. Guests receive support, shelter, and care as they enact a plan for childcare, housing, transportation, and work that will build a stable future for their family. During the day, the guests go to work and school and spend time at the Day Center working on independence plans.
St. Andrew was one of 13 founding congregations of Family Promise of Greater New Braunfels who each host the guests one week per quarter. A typical host week includes
- 7 evening meals with the guests
- 7 evening hosts
- 7 overnight hosts
Before the host week, volunteers complete training and background checks and ready spaces. During the host week, our volunteers cook and/or serve meals, stay overnight, set up, take dowb, and do laundrey.
